Normally i am not fond of the illustrative use of typography. But the iconic title and the anarchistic aproach of the artists involved made it logic for once to do so. The exhibition deals with the VOC past of many objects from the Zeeuws Museum. The references to the VOC in this poster can be found in several levels. First in the object itself, which came to Middelburg in that period. Second in the placing of the object. To place a object upside down refers to the international maritime sign of distress; a flag upside down is a symbol for emergency. And the last reference is offcourse the combination of the image and the title which form the icon of piracy.
